Can you shoot and edit a film in 48 hours?

48 HOURS
You will have 48 hours to make a 3 minute film based on a theme.
PRIZES
$500 cash prize! Also up for grabs a Panasonic HDCSD40 camcorder and Panasonic DMC53 camera.
SCREENING
All films received will be screened at the Clare Valley Film Festival, Blyth Cinema.

Don’t forget the key rules:
- Your film must be 3 minutes long.
- Your film must be based on the theme and prop given at 7pm 23th March on the website and via email.
- A $20 non-refundable entry fee is required.
*The Rules
The following rules apply to each participating group/production team:
1. Time: The Clewers 48 Hour Film Challenge 2012 will occur between 7pm Friday 23 March and 7pm Sunday 25 March 2011. This will be the Official 48 Hour Time Period. The participating team must complete its film work in time to upload the film by 7pm Sunday 25 March 2012. Only works that meet the deadline will be officially part of the competition. All films received after will be screened but not eligible for prizes. On submission a $20 non-refundable entry fee is required. This fee is used to fund the competition.
2. Theme & Special Prop: The theme and special prop will be released on the CVFF website at 7pm Friday 23 March 2012. Each team is required to make a film around the theme, include the special prop in a scene, and using any genre or style. Any film which doesn’t include the theme or prop will be disqualified.
3. The finished film must be a maximum of 3 minutes in duration including all credits.
4. Films can be submitted by upload via DropSend or WeTransfer no later than 7pm Sunday 25 March 2012. Please note uploading large files can take a hour or more. Please take this into consideration. See section 13 for more details. Submission in person is also acceptable at a designated Clare location.
5. In the 48 hour period, all creativity will take place, including but not limited to:
- Script writing
- Rehearsing
- Costume/Set Design
- Shooting
- Editing
- Sound Design
- Composition
6. The only work to begin prior to the “Official 48 Hour Time Period” is:
- Organising Crew & Cast
- Securing Equipment
- Locations
7. All footage must be shot within the 48 hour time period of the project. No stock footage or footage shot or created at another time may be used. Animation and special effects are permitted, but must be created during the 48 hour time period. Still photographs are permitted, provided that the team has the rights to them. The photos do not need to be created during the 48 hour time period.
8. All cast and crew must be volunteers.
9. Filmmakers are expected to bring their own equipment. Any type of video or film camera may be used. No responsibility can be accepted for entries lost or damage whether by email or otherwise. CVFF has no responsibility for incomplete entries arising from computable functions, virus, bugs or other causes outside its control.
10. Before the film begins add 5 seconds of black then a Title card with: team name, team leader name, date, film title, and “This film was made for the Clewers 48 Hour Film Challenge 2012″ 2 seconds of black then your film.
11. Credits at the end of each film are limited to a maximum of 20 seconds.
12. Sound recordings and Sound Effects: Sound recorders are allowed as with music, pre-recorded sound effects, but you must have rights to use them.
13. The finished film can be uploaded. File types accepted are MOV, MP4 or AVI. Preferred compression H.264 at Bit Rate 1024Kbps. Name the file with the film’s title and team name (eg my-film-title_team-name.mov). Upload your film to CVFF via DropSend or WeTransfer at submit@clarevalleyfilmfestival.com with ‘Clewers Film Challenge’ and team name in the subject
14. Each team must secure talent, crew, music releases and location releases, which might be requested by the project organisers. Template release forms will be available for download. It is the team leader’s responsibility to ensure the correct paperwork is available on request.
15. Content of the movie/film/video is at the discretion of the participating groups. The organizers reserve the right to not screen any film that can be considered pornographic, or that depicts hardcore or graphic sex.
16. Music: Participating groups are encouraged to work with local composers and/or musicians to write and record music for the films. We realise that this may be difficult to achieve. Therefore, it is permissible for a participating group to use pre-recorded music; however the participating group must have the rights to any music used in its film and must provide a release for all music.
17. To be certified as an “Official 48 Hour Film,” each participating group’s film/video production must follow all rules herein.
18. Screening 31 March 2012: All films received will be screened. The screening is free, but we recommend to RSVP. Full details will be available on the CVFF website closer to the date.
19. By entering the competition, all participating team members (including crew and cast) agree to Clare Valley Film Festival using their final film for promotional purposes.
20. All actions by participating teams remain their own responsibility and the teams should ensure that a suitable health and safety policy is adhered to at all times whilst making the film. Neither CVFF nor is sponsors will accept any responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or death incurred whilst entrants are participating in C48HFC.
21. The C48HFC Organisers may add to or amend these rules at any time prior to the beginning of the 48 Hour time period.
