Clare Valley Film Festival receives Federal Government funding

The Clare Valley Film Festival has received funding from The Federal Government along with 37 other community-based festivals across Australia. CVFF secured a grant for $7,440 which will be used towards the newly created Moving Image Exhibition which will involve local visual artists. A workshop will also be conducted for local youth and emerging filmmakers with an interest in animation, media, digital arts and photography. The exhibition and workshop will take place during the festival which runs from 29-31st March 2012.

“These arts-driven projects will build quality and diversity of arts and culture in communities across Australia,” Arts Minister Simon Crean.

The exhibition will feature non-narrative animation and moving image works by Australian and international artists and filmmakers, which will be displayed and housed in ‘Pods’, decorated by local artists.

“The ‘Pods’ create a unique viewing experience and allow participants to consider their environment, both physical and mental, through engaging with contemporary, cutting edge art forms. The barriers of regional/metropolitan and social/economic status are overlapped and negated in these digital works, successfully bridging all participants in a shared, yet individual experience,” Dan Bradley, Clare Valley Film Festival Education Coordinator.

“I congratulate all successful applicants and acknowledge their outstanding efforts in bringing high quality arts and cultural events to local communities.” Arts Minister Simon Crean.

The Moving Image Exhibition will run from Thursday 29 March to Saturday 31 March 2012 at Blyth Town Hall and then from Wednesday 4 April at Blackman Gallery in Clare for 3 weeks. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Murray Edwards.
